Emotional Support Poet

I had a beautiful moment the other day, and it was caused by this letter — which is a great sign. When I was first on Tik Tok I tried a few of the trends that were always happening, but I knew that for me to really do anything there I had to be real and it had to have something to do with my writing.

I like helping people. I like writing. I think I have an ability to see through the noise and really zero in on the heart of what someone is feeling and what they want to say. I offered myself as a poet that could write something for someone that they might not have the words for themselves.

The label for it emerged as the thing developed, and as soon as it came to me it’s truth resonated with what I really wanted to do. It touched people and the fact that I really caught the mood and the thought from the person and moved them meant so much to me. I managed on Tik Tok, and will do again, to do with my art what it has always been designed to do: I communicated with people with my words and touched them.

So, the beautiful moment? One of the people I kidnapped over here was someone who followed me from Tik Tok — someone I touched … and they asked me when the poems I wrote from Tik Tok were going to be published. It was something I needed - to know that my poems were wanted and that they meant something to someone. What more could you want for a poem? What more could you ask for as a writer?

The answer is that I am going to be getting them out soon. I have a book from one of my writers to edit first, another writer should soon drop his third collection on me, and then I have whole trove of finished books to put out there. Those books will be close to the front of the queue because they are important to me — people trusted me with some very special things that they wanted me to write, and that trust was magical.
